Capstone Night puts Kickapoo U on display

Eight students pose together in a line on a stage in front of a screen that says Welcome to Capstone Night!

Kickapoo University’s top eight students presented to an audience of teachers, district admin, fellow students and community members at Capstone Night on Jan. 7.

Kickapoo U provides opportunities for relevant professional experiences through job shadows, volunteerism, dual credit courses, an internship and finally a Capstone course. Following their internship, Kickapoo U students finish the program with an invaluable college-level experience. The culmination of this work is put on display during Capstone Night.

A student in a suit stands on a stage in front of a seated audience next to a screen that has a picture of himself, the words Capstone University and logos for the City of Springfield, Dan Patterson the Greene county prosecutor and the Greene County Baptist Association.

  • Max Nguyen
  • Natalie Coons
  • Hailey Hakan
  • Addyson Moore
  • Xander Ayres
  • Kate Crist
  • Nick Bauer

Each of the presentations addressed a problem the students wanted to solve and explained how their time in the program helped them develop a solution. Following the top eight student’s presentations, guests were able to explore all the Kickapoo U projects on display in the school’s commons. The capstone projects, combining research and real-world experience, is the cornerstone of the rigorous course work.
